Beautifully written, and I completely agree. I used to tell my husband "the older you get, the more you become who you really are" and I'm so lucky I've known what I like and want for years now. It's not always easy, and I concur you still need to have some curiosity around things outside your own past experience, but I've decided to give myself the grace of accepting my own preferences, the same way I would if someone else was honest about their needs.
